Sightseeing in Kołobrzeg
Kołobrzeg is one of the oldest cities at the Polish seaside, but also one of the cities that was most hit by World War II. The historic city center was completely destroyed, and after the war most of the ruins made way for grey communist apartment blocks, which are visible from all corners of the once so picturesque historic city center. Nowadays only the Cathedral, the Town Hall and a few other building remind visitors of the looks of the city before 1939. Most visitors however do not come to Kołobrzeg for historic sightseeing, but are more interested in the beaches and seaside, where the lighthouse and the pier of Kołobrzeg are the true landmarks of this popular holiday destination.
