National Museum

National MuseumThe main buildings of the National Museum in Szczecin (Muzeum Narodowe w Szczecinie) is located at the Chrobry Embankment, in the former Maritime Museum. Here you will find thousands of historic artifiacts from the region, information about the seafaring history of the city, as well as a new permanent exhibition on the Golden Age of the Pomeranian Region. Also worthwile is a view from the viewing tower on top of the museum, although the climb to the platform via a narrow staircase is said to be challenging.

Two other main buildings of the museum are located at ul. Staromłyńska. In the baroque palace at number 27, which has served as the seat  of the Prussian state parliament, you will find the Old Art Gallery (Galeria Sztuki Dawnej) with medieval paintings and scupltures. In the building opposite the street, at number 1, the Museum of Contemporary Art (Muzeum Sztuki Współczesnej)  is located, with works of Polish artists from the 1980s till present.

Also part of the National Museum is Szczecin's History Museum (Muzeum Historii Szczecina), which is situated in the Old Town Hall.

A ticket to the main building costs PLN 10 (excluding the viewing platform). For PLN 15 you can buy a ticket to visit all the locations of the museum.
