Long Street

Ulica DlugaSituated between the Golden Gate and Long market (Długi Targ), Long Street (ulica Długa)  is the Royal Way of Gdańsk, with colourful monumental merchant houses dating back to they heydays of the Hanseatic League.

The rich citizens of Gdansk did their best to impress each other with ever more decorative facades. The most famous and noteworthy houses along Long Street include the late-Baroque Uphagen House (Kamienica Uphagena) at nr. 12, the 16th century Ferber House (Dom Ferberów) at nr. 28, and the Schumann House (Dom Szumannów) at nr. 45, which is now home to the office of the Tourist Information.

The Uphagen House can be visited (opened daily) as part of the Historic Museum of Gdansk.
