Long Market

Dlugi TargThe Long Market (Długi Targ) is merely a wide street in the extention of Long Street. It is the historic heart of Gdansk and is with its many decorative facades and houses the most popular spot to be visited by tourists.

The square is surrounded by beautifully decorated merchant houses and palaces. In the west you can find the nice architecture of the Main Town Hall. On the northern side the beautiful white Artus Court (Dwór Artusa) is situated. This house was home to the merchant brotherhoods of Gdansk and can be visited as part of the Gdansk History Museum. In front of the Artus Court stand the Fountain of Neptune (Fontana Neptuna), which was built in 1633.
On the east side the road towards the Motlawa River is crossed by the Green Gate (Zielona Brama), which was built between 1564-1568 and forms the end of the Royal Way.

The square is packed with restaurants and cafés, and is often frequented by street artists and street vendors.
